Why Entrepreneurs In A Frantic Search for Quick Profits and Fast Results Are Confusing:
- Stress with Success
- Adrenaline with Purpose
- Effort with Effectiveness
- Potential with Profit
Wow! What a catchy headline right?!? By the way, that catchy and hard hitting headline is the title of Rich Schefren’s Entrepreneurial Emergency FREE Report.
For some of you that don’t know who Rich Schefren is, he is the GURU’S BUSINESS GURU. No kidding right?!? At first I thought this must be just something that this Rich Schefren guy calls himself to get people to buy his stuff. But after reading his bio and all the business building material in his website, StrategicProfits.com, and after listening to this FREE business constraint busting webinar, I must say he’s totally justified to call himself the GURU’S BUSINESS GURU. In the nutshell, Rich Schefren has given business coaching to a lot of internet marketers, some of them are famous Internet Marketers like Mike Filsaime, Frank Kern, Jeff Walker, Yaro Starak etc. His business coaching has helped these Internet Marketers to grow their businesses exponentially. If you want to know more about Rich Schefren, you can go to his website.
Let’s go back to the report. When I saw this headline, it was like I just got hit by a big truck!
Why? Because I feel I am one of those Entrepreneurs who are confusing the 4 items mentioned in the headline of his FREE report! You know…when something you read feels like talking to you directly?!? Let’s go over these 4 items one by one.
CONFUSING STRESS WITH SUCCESS
I am currently a full time employee and a mom. Network Marketing with the Internet i.e. Internet Network Marketing is what I do on the side. It is currently a part time business. Consequently, having to juggle with all the different things pertaining to the different roles in my life has brought me a lot of stress. Fortunatley, I have somehow been able to manage my stress fairly well by having a family that’s supportive of me and my business, eating healthy, taking antioxidant supplements, reading motivational books and hanging around positive people, I still feel I have to do more to reduce my stress level. Strangely, in a twisted way, I feel like the stress is an indicator that I must have done many of the things that I can possibly do and must do for my business to thrive! Talk about being a narcist! The more things I do, the more stressed I am, the closer I must be to having a thriving and successful business, right?!?
CONFUSING ADRENALINE WITH PURPOSE
In my experience, I would get some sort of adrenaline rush from doing too many thingsall at once! I feel like I have to keep going to succeed! Or else…
CONFUSING EFFORT WITH EFFECTIVESS
In this busy busy world where multitasking is a desired skill, I’m proud to say that this is a skill that I have the least concern about. I write articles, I do research on my article next topic, I customize my wordpress blog, I read emails so that I can stay on top of the latest and the greatest products or internet marketing news – ALL at relatively the same time. When I say relatively about the same time, I mean I would have 4 windows open (I use PC) – my writing editor, the google page for my research, my wordpress blog back end office, and of course my – and I toggle myself from one window to the next. I do this because I think that if I can accomplish more, the better off I’ll be. The results? Everything gets done twice (or sometimes, three times) as long as it would be if each task was to be performed individually with focus. Or sometimes, I end up getting distracted by doing the activity that I love the most – content research (i.e. web surfing
)
CONFUSING POTENTIAL WITH PROFITS
When I read this, I’m like…HUH?..What is this? At first I don’t really understand what this means until I read further into the free report. In it, Rich Schefren wrote:
Only the POTENTIAL of your business is determined by your talents, knowledge and commitment and the amount of time and effort you spend trying to grow it
What does this mean?
Every year, entrepreneurs spend billions of dollars on books, courses and seminars that promise to leverage their strengths, increase their knowledge, intensify their commitment through motivation…all because we think if only we know this and that, and become more motivated…
Every morning, millions of entrepreneurs – including me – go to work and put in back-breaking hours and expend every ounce of energy they have into their businesses.
They think they’re doing what is required to be successful. In truth, all they’re doing is what’s required to create the potential for success.
All of a sudden I have my “AHA” moment! I get it!
Confusing potential with profits pretty much means doing something…ANYTHING…with having the potential outcome in mind and think that, that POTENTIAL outcome will eventually bring profits.
According to Rich Schefren, it is a misleading way of thinking about what types of activities that you have to do or learn to bring you closer to your business success i.e. profits (if your in business for profits!).
Let’s take a look at this example to make it easier for you to understand.
Supposedly you think that by being able to bring more traffic to your website or blog, you would be able to generate sales and/or leads. So, what do you do? You’d go out there and buy as many courses as you can find on traffic generation. You spend your resources, your money and your time, to learn how to generate traffic to your website. You’ll then find out that there are literally tons of ways to generate traffic to your website (seriously!). You’ll get confused. But you’re still determined that you have to be able to generate a lot of traffic to your website to generate sales and/or leads. So you start learning one by one traffic generation method in more details. After spending a lot of time into learning, you then start applying your newly found skills confidently. You begin generating traffic to your website, but you are yet to see any sales or leads being generated.
What’s the problem here? After scouring the internet for information, you
then find out that you need good quality content to convert that traffic into customers/prospects (i.e. sales/leads). You then would go out there again and buy as many courses as you can find on content generation. And the cycle continues! The wheel keeps spinning!
I can actually go on…but I’d stop here as I think you’d get my point by now. I have to admit though, that I fall prey to this notion too.
The knowledge that you just learned, the traffic generation and the content generation knowledge, ONLY DETERMINE YOUR POTENTIAL FOR SUCCESS!
YOUR ACTUAL SUCCESS IS ACTUALLY DETERMINED BY YOUR CONSTRAINTS!
This is truly an awakening moment for me! And I hope it’s the same for you too!
So once those constraints are removed, there’s no more stopping for you to reach your business success potentials!
The problem here is, how do we know what types of constraints that we have to remove to succeed in our business? And then, after we learn our constraints, what should we do about them? What are the different types of constraints out there? What are the 7 most common constraints that most business owners have in their business?
