How to Attract Prospects with Your Blog and Article Titles

by mutiara on February 28, 2009

Network Marketing blogs are one of the most important marketing tools you can use to promote yourself as a leader in your Network Marketing business.

Some of the advantages of creating a blog about just any topic in Network Marketing include getting traffic from the search engines, blog traffic exchanges, people typing in your name with a dot com at the end and even from RSS subscriptions.

One of the biggest aspects towards picking up and maximizing your traffic is to optimize your blog titles and post titles for your blogs. The title has many different functions. It gets your blog post appearing on Google, Yahoo! and MSN for the right kind of keywords – keywords that your prospects are looking for.

Having a relevant blog and article titles to what your prospects are searching would also result in your blog to get picked up by blog syndication and networks, giving you another source of traffic and blog readers. It will also attract readers to look at your blog articles. With millions of new blog posts coming up each day and a new blog being created every few seconds, you have to be savvy when it comes to creating a post title that will not only attract the attention of your readers, but will also give them a compelling reason to read the article all the way to the end. For example: Let’s say your prospects are interested to find out how to generate their own leads online. They would go to Google and then type “generate my own leads” or “leads generation online”. You happen to have a Network Marketing blog that’s dedicated to do just that, helping Network Marketers or other business opportunity seekers to use blogs to generate their own leads. Let’s say you have a blog article titled: “How to Generate Your Own Leads with the Internet”. Can you imagine what would happen if your prospects find your blog article through the search engine, read it and because you provide such valuable tips to generate leads online, they become interested in your past and upcoming articles that they subscribe to your blog? This is one of the ways that you can use to establish yourself as a leader, an authority figure, a subject matter expert. There are many other ways that you can do to establish yourself as a leader, which I’ll talk about in my other articles.

So how can you optimize your blog article titles? Here are a few pointers:

1) How about writing a “How To” article? Everybody wants to know how to get more money, sell their products the right way, get something done, court the right girl, find the right solutions to their financial problems, get a high paying job, etc. If you can provide solutions, the ‘How To’ line will definitely strike a chord

2) How about using something like this for your article title: “Generate Leads like [name - someone you look up to as the expert in your industry]” or “Swing Golf Like Tiger Woods” or “Get Rich like Warren Buffet”! If you can do something like the superstars, it will be a very good article title because everyone wants to do something word class and everyone wants to align themselves with inspirational figures in whatever subject they’re interested in.

3) If you start your blog post with “What You Should Know about [whatever subject you want to talk about]“, you are leveraging on someone’s curiosity and it is really effective because nobody likes the feeling of not knowing something important or feeling left out. Still relating to the previous example on your prospects who are interested to find out about online leads generation, how about this for example, “What You Should Know about Generating Leads Online”

4) Another good title is “Use This Proven Strategy to [whatever subject you want to talk about]” as a title indicates a quick way to get something done. This is a very good line too because people like to get things done really fast. Again, still Still relating to the previous example on your prospects who are interested to find out about online leads generation, how about this for example, “Use This Proven Strategy to Generate Leads Online”

5) Another useful strategy is to break down your blog post into separate parts and title each post using part 1, part 2, part 3 and so forth. When you break your blog posts into separate parts, it gives people a compelling reason to come back more and more. For example, the “How to” article that we used in the previous example can be broken down into “How to Generate Your Own Leads with the Internet – Part 1″, “How to Generate Your Own Leads with the Internet – Part 2″ and so forth. Why do you want to do this?

- You don’t want to overwhelm your readers with a long article that they stop reading your article and decide to close your blog. Sometimes, prospects will get bored reading a long article (more than 1000 words article). This is not good, since you are not able to convey your valuable content to your readers in a wholesome manner. If read fully, the article would be beneficial for your prospects. If your prospects stop reading your article halfway, they will not gain anything out it and probably think that it’s a complete waste of their time visiting your blog.

- Keep the prospects coming back for more. Nobody like to be kept hanging. At least I don’t. Your prospects will want to know what’s next. This is a good way to build trust with your prospects. The more they see and read your blog and articles, and all the items that are associated with you in your blog, the more they become familiar with you. You want to get your prospects to become familiar with you first, before you can even offer them anything to sell. After all, which one would you more likely to buy from, a stranger or someone you know already?

Your blog titles should convey to your readers that there is something in it for them. Remember the saying that goes: What’s In It For Me? What’s in it for your readers to read your article?

Great article mutiara!

I appreciate the information. I have to admit that I have been struggling with generating new leads. However, I found your article extremely helpful in this area. Generating your own leads is far more superior then buying leads any day.

There is no comparison. Thank you for the timely article.
