Stop and make up your mind! I’d say – just jump over! Why? Because you’re missing out if you don’t
Just check out the Comscore data online video sites in table below.
See the highlighted area:

In January, Google Sites once again ranked as the top U.S. video property with 6.4 billion videos viewed (43 percent online video market share), with YouTube.com accounting for more than99 percent of all videos viewed at the property.

More and more website owners these days are trying to capitalize on the popularity of the internet. That may involve creating a website that sell as particular product or creating a website that relies on online advertisements to make money. Whichever type of website you own, your website will need to have traffic. Without that traffic, no matter how good your product is, or how reliable the online advertisements that you put on your website, you will not be able to generate any income from your website. For many, getting internet traffic is easier said than done. Boy..how I know how that feels!
Before I continue, I would like to reiterate one thing. If you’ve read my previous post, Internet Network Marketing Step by Step Guide, and you are serious about marketing your business online, you would already have an online real estate that you can call your own site by now. Your online real estate can consist of a squidoo page, a hub page, a facebook page, a myspace page, a gather page, a youtube channel, or even a combination of some or all of these pages. During the course of this article, whenever the word “website” is mentioned, I’m also referencing to these pages. I’m also referencing to blogs. Having these pages to start marketing your business online is a good start. However, for “branding” purpose, in your later online marketing stage, I would definitely suggest that you have a website or blog of your own. It doesn’t need to be fancy, but your website should communicate to your prospects about who you are, what you have to offer and why they should want to deal with you. In other words, you have to successfully “sell” yourself first, before trying to sell your stuff to your prospects. Why? Because a sale transaction will not likely to happen if your prospects do not buy you – i.e. trust that you’re legit, you’re able to help them fulfill their need and you will provide good support after they buy from you.
When you create a website, it is likely that you will have some content on your website. That content is usually written content, articles. Search engines use that content to rank your website. Being the owner of a high ranking website will often result in more online visitors (internet traffic). Depending on the type of website you have, more website visitors could mean more profits. When it comes to traffic generation. many website owners mostly rely on the search engines to do all of the work for them. Unfortunately, with an unlimited number of online websites, not everyone can have a high ranking website. This means that, in addition to search engines, you should promote your website in other ways.
One thing that you can do to promote your website, to increase the number of page views it sees, is to take advantage of online video websites. They are rapidly increasing in popularity and should you choose to use these sites in your online marketing, that popularity can help you and your business in making your website and business popular as well.
Actually, what is online video sites?
They are websites that host a huge collection of different videos. Most of these videos are considered homemade because they are made by regular people just like you and me. At the end of this article, I list all the different online video sites that you can go to.
How can online video sites help you in your online marketing?
Search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN (especially Google, in this case) seems to like video better than written content. What does this mean for you and your business? It means the likelihood of your business website to appear on the 1st page of the Google SERP (Search Engine Results Page) is huge! If you have a video that you upload in one of the biggest online video sites (see the table at the bottom of this article for more details), your video can appear on the 1st page of the Google SERP within only hours (sometimes minutes!) from the time that you uploaded that video. Though, there are other factors that determine the likelihood of your video to show up on the 1st page of Google SERP other than a fact that IT IS a video. One would be the keywords that you’re using for the title of the video. If the keywords are too competitive, i.e. there are lot of online marketers that use the same keywords, chances are your video will not appear on the 1st page of the Google SERP within hours. It may take days or months. But, it is still possible for your video to appear on the 1st page of Google SERP.
What does appearing on the 1st page of the Google SERP mean for you and your business?
It means that the likelihood of you and your business to get found by your prospects online is really high. And it is done with no cost. If you are on shoestring budget in doing your online marketing, this really means GOLD for you. In my next post, I will illustrate my point. So stay tune! In the meantime, read on.
When it comes to promoting you website using the online video websites, there is one thing that you’d want to keep in mind. Most internet users do not enjoy watching videos that appear as spam. This means that you will want to promote your online business without appearing too pushy or too sales pitchy.
How can you promote your online business without appearing too pushy or too sales pitchy?
If you are the owner of an online website that sells a particular product or service, you may want to consider promoting or showcasing that product or service. You can easily do this by showing samples of your work. It may also be a good idea to explain how long you have been making the products or offering the services that you currently offer. Although you will want to promote your online website and the products you are selling, you will also want to keep your video as general as it can be. This will help to keep it from looking like increasing your sales the only goal of your video. If you choose to do so, you will want to offer information on your business at the end of your video.
Although website owners who use their websites to sell products or services can benefit the most from the use of online video websites, everyone else can as well. If you are using your website to make money through online advertisements, such as Google Adsense or affiliate marketing, it is likely that your website has a lot of content with a lot of good quality articles that are often focused on a particular topic. It may be a good idea to create an informational video covering whatever topic that your website covers. Your topic can be internet marketing, owning a pet, parenting, living healthy etc. At the end of your video, include the address of your online website. This will help you to increase the number of visitors to your website.
Here are several examples of informational videos:
1) Informational video on how a certain product performs its functions. Example below: The guy’s promoting a very powerful blender called Blendtec Blender.
2) Informational video on how to do something [whatever it is that's related to the service or product you're promoting].
In the example below, the guy’s promoting a weight loss product. A link to the product website he’s promoting can be found under his information, on the top right handside of his video page.
When it comes to using online video websites to promote your website, you will have a number of different options. There are a number of online video websites that will allow you to upload and share your videos with the whole world. Most of them offer the service for FREE. To make the most out of the time spent making your video, I would sugges that you find online video websites that are popular and have high ranking, such as Google Video or YouTube. Keep in mind that you can upload and share your videos in more than just one online video site. The more people that see your video, the better the chances are of them making their way to your website. If you want to get started using video to market your business, you can start visiting the video sites below and start uploading your informational video there.
List of Online Video Sites with their Page Ranks part 1. You would want to focus on those with high PRs.
1) Youtube, PR: 9/10
2) Metacafe, PR 7/10
3) Revver, PR 6/10
4) Google Video, I wasn’t able to find the PR for this site but I assume since this is one Google video site (other than Youtube), I think this would have the same PR as Google
5) Putfile, PR 5/10
6) Yahoo Video, PR 7/10
7) Livevideo, PR 6/10
Spike, PR 7/10
9) Veoh, PR 7/10
10) Crackle, PR 6/10
11) Blip.tv, PR 7/10
12) Sharkle, PR 5/10
13) Jumpcut, PR 7/10
14) Daily Motion, PR 6/10
15) Photobucket, PR 8/10
This is a partial list. As you can see, ALL of these online video sites have PRs higher than 5!
What’s a better way to create a back link to your website than posting your video with a link to your website (or whatever it is you’re promoting) in any one of these video sites or ALL of these video sites?
Next post – Some samples on how posting your video in the online video sites will increase your likelihood to get found online. Are you too shy to be in your own video? Don’t worry…there are ways to create a video even without you being in it
. In the meantime, what do you think about posting videos in the online video sites?
